The Elo Score (named after Arpad Elo) is a ranking mechanism originally designed for chess, but adapted by Tinder and other apps to rank user desirability.

While Tinder claims to have moved away from strict Elo scoring, dynamic visibility rankings persist. Your score increases when highly-ranked users swipe right on you, and decreases if you are rejected by lower-ranked users.

How to improve your score:

• Activity: Active users are prioritized.
• Selectivity: Indiscriminate "right-swiping" lowers your score as it signals spam behavior.
• Complete Profile: Algorithms favor profiles with full bios and connected accounts.
